Northwest Harvest Fundraiser
Every fall, Seattle Singles Yacht Club raises money for a local food bank–Northwest Harvest. This year’s event was Oct. 7th, and included a sailboat race, auction, dinner and dance.
Seattle Single Yacht Club members are active even when away from the water! In addition to Monday night meetings and dances, many club members play volleyball on Tuesday nights, gather for Happy Hours on Fridays and plan trips to local museums and special events throughout the year. Others attend dances, dinners and member planned house parties. An SSYC member’s social calendar is always full!
Tuesday is Club volleyball night at the Crown Hill Community Center, 9520 14th Ave NW, Seattle. All skill levels are welcome as members play for fun and exercise from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost is $4 per person. After the rousing games, members stop by a local bar/restaurant for refreshments. During summer months, the games usually move to a park. Location changes are announced at Monday meetings.
Every Friday, Club members meet at a Seattle-area pub for drinks and small plates. The changing locations are announced at Monday meetings and published in the newsletter that is sent to annual members. The venues are also on the Events Calendar on this website. SSYC Eastside members meet the third Thursday each month for an additional get together on the Eastside of Lake Washington. Occasionally, extra happy hours are scheduled for both the North and Sound parts of Puget Sound. But, no matter where you live, please join us for conversation, boat talk and good company!
Seattle Singles host dance nights the second Monday of each month right after the regular meeting. Throughout the year there are themed dances to match the season. The Halloween Dance with a costume contest is always a favorite. Other special dances include Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s, Christmas, a Northwest Harvest Gala fundraiser and the Commodore’s Ball.
Everyone is invited to attend SSYC dances, single or partnered and club membership is not required. Dances start immediately after the weekly meeting, usually around 8:30 p.m.
